February 2, 2012:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Imperial Palace of Mississippi, LLC (IPM), obtained summary judgment in a lawsuit filed against IPM. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged she was injured after falling in IPM's buffet restaurant. After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment on behalf of IPM.
January 11, 2012:
After two days of trial in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, Second Judicial District (Biloxi), the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a directed verdict on behalf of the Defendant Hancock Bank. In his lawsuit, Plaintiff claimed Hancock Bank had negligently converted his monies and was seeking actual and punitive damages. The trial court directed a verdict in favor of Hancock Bank at the close of Plaintiff's case.
December 1, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of the Defendants, Jon Lucas and Sean Lucas, successfully briefed and argued a Motion to Dismiss. Plaintiff filed a wrongful death lawsuit. After oral arguments, the Court granted the motion, and the Complaint against these Defendants was dismissed.
November 21, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Imperial Palace of Mississippi, LLC (IPM), obtained summary judgment in a lawsuit filed against IPM. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged she suffered food poisoning after eating at Defendant’s restaurant. After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment on behalf of IPM.
September 8, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Imperial Palace of Mississippi, LLC (IPM), obtained summary judgment in a lawsuit filed against IPM. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged she injured while on IPM's premises. After some discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment.
July 26, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Oakfabco, Inc., obtained the dismissal of a lawsuit filed against Oakfabco and other defendants in a complex, toxic tort lawsuit. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged he suffers from mesothelioma as a result of his alleged exposure to asbestos products. After some discovery, Pat was able to obtain Oakfabco's dismissal. By securing this dismissal, Pat was able to save Oakfabco the costs of defending this complex case.
May 25, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney) obtained the dismissal of a lawsuit filed against CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT). After Plaintiff filed her lawsuit, Pat met with the Plaintiff and her attorney. After this meeting, the Plaintiff agreed to dismiss her lawsuit. By securing this dismissal early in the litigation, Pat was able to save CSXT the cost of defending this case in federal court.
May 25, 2011:
After 31/2 days of trial in Chancery Court in Harrison County, Brown Buchanan team member, Steven Dick (attorney), obtained a judgment upholding our client’s pre-nuptial agreement in a divorce action. The Defendant was attempting to set the pre-nuptial agreement aside based on a failure for full and fair disclosure and lack of procedural fairness.

January 26, 2011:
After two days of trial in the County Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, First Judicial District, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a directed verdict on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. against the Plaintiff in a property damage lawsuit. Plaintiff claimed CSXT was responsible for the total loss of his shrimp boat. The trial court directed a verdict in favor of CSXT at the close of Plaintiff’s case.

September 3, 2010: Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney) obtained a dismissal of a workers' compensation claim filed against the employer, Imperial Palace of Mississippi. Claimant was seeking workers' compensation benefits for a back injury she alleged arose out of the course and scope of her employment with the employer. After aggressively defending the claim, Pat was able to obtain a dismissal on behalf of the employer.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan, attorney, donated his time and resources to establish the Big Red Athletic Foundation. The Foundation is a private, non-profit organization, with 501(c)(3) status, established to support Biloxi Public Schools athletics.
June 3, 2010:
After a three day trial in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mississippi, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a defense verdict on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. against the Plaintiffs in an FELA lawsuit. Plaintiff claimed permanent disabilities, and the inability to return to work, arising from an injury while he was working.
May 5, 2010:
Brown Buchanan team member Patrick Buchanan (attorney) obtained a dismissal, on behalf of the defendant, The Pep Boys, in the United States District Court, Southern District. Plaintiffs filed a product liability action against, among others, Pep Boys. Patrick was able to obtain a dismissal for Pep Boys, after filing a Motion to Dismiss, early in the litigation, saving Pep Boys substantial costs that would have been associated with the defense of this complex product liability case.
April 26, 2010:
Brown Buchanan team member, Pat Buchanan (attorney), after presenting oral argument, received a judgment from the FifthCircuit, in favor of CSX Transportation, Inc., affirming the jury’s verdict of a case successfully tried by the Brown Buchanan team in the federal district court.

October 27, 2009:
Brown Buchanan team member Steven Dick (attorney) obtained summary judgment on behalf of the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum of Biloxi, Inc. and its insurance carrier in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, Second Judicial District. The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum contracted with a contractor for the construction of a pier, including electrical system. The Museum experienced electrical problems with the pier that resulted in damages to the electrical system and pier. On behalf of the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, Brown Buchanan obtained summary judgment against he contractor who installed the pier and electrical system.
October 12, 2009:
Brown Buchanan team member Melissa Williams (attorney) obtained a dismissal, with prejudice, on behalf of a local realtor in the County Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, First Judicial District. Plaintiff filed suit alleging professional malpractice and negligence; after completing some initial discovery, Melissa was able to obtain a dismissal.
August 31, 2009:
Brown Buchanan team member Dub Hornsby (attorney) obtained summary judgment on behalf of a local realtor in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mississippi. Plaintiff alleged professional malpractice and negligence; after briefing and oral argument, the Court granted the Defendant summary judgment.
July 28, 2009:
Brown Buchanan team member Melissa Williams (attorney), representing home owners who ‘s home was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina, through mediation, obtained a settlement against State Farm on behalf of the homeowners.
June 8, 2009:
After a five day trial in the United States District Court of Mississippi, Southern Division, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a defense verdict on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. Plaintiff claimed permanent disability arising from a grade crossing collision.
March 24, 2009:
After a seven day trial in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained two defense verdicts on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. against two Plaintiffs in a consolidated FELA lawsuit. Plaintiffs claimed permanent disabilities, including physical and post traumatic stress disorder, arising from a grade crossing collision.
