Michael E. Bruffey is a life long resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His family owned and operated the Elliott Jewelry Company, which started in business in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1928. He is a graduate of Biloxi High School, the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi School of Law. Michael lives in Biloxi with his wife Ann and their children Jacob, Julia and Emma. Michael’s practice focuses on gaming, commercial development projects, real estate transactions, contracts, corporate matters and federal and state court litigation. Michael joined the firm in 2007.
Michael served as Senior Director of Legal Affairs for Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc., a publicly traded company, from 2000 through 2007. He was involved in the development of several new casino projects and has extensive real estate transactional experience. During his tenure with Isle of Capri, Michael handled the company’s material litigation matters and was responsible for the litigation management of hundreds of claims for the company’s subsidiaries. In addition, Michael served on the company’s claims committee participating in the development of the company’s safety programs. He has been involved with resolving numerous disputes involving contract and liability matters through direct negotiations or utilizing the ADR process.
He is a member of the Land Use Committee of the Gulf coast Business Council, a member of the Rotary Club of Biloxi, and a volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity.
Michael is a graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast. He has also served the youth of his community as a baseball manager for the Biloxi Little League since 1999, and is a member of the Nativity Parents Association.
